How to play Dominoes

Bring your attention to one round of Dominoes. Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Keep the instructions close while learning this activity. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Double-six draw dominoes, local two players with shared-screen visible hands.

Make the controls familiar

Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart. Keep the objective visible.

Your goal

Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. The example below illustrates a decision.

Step by step

  1. Play a tile matching either open chain end.
  2. Choose which end to use.
  3. Draw only when no tile fits.
  4. Pass only with no legal tile and an empty stock.

Controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Check any mode label before starting.

A useful example

An open 4 accepts 4–2, leaving 2 open. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Keep the controls nearby.

Watch out for this

You cannot ignore a legal match to draw. Compare the situation with the worked example. Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow.
